The Cheese and Grain is a central venue in Frome, having a similar function to a town or civic hall. Apart from regular markets and music events the hall is used for special events. These are unique events and those listed below are examples of what can be done:

The 2009 Tour of Britain Cycle Race.
The South West leg of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race began outside the Cheese and Grain in the Market Yard central car park in Frome. The hall was a backdrop to the televised scene and was used to host a pre- race event, and as a holding and reception area for organisers. The hall’s substantial floor space and central location helped play a part in Frome success in hosting this important stage of the race.

The Jenson Button Freedom of Frome Award Ceremony 2010
Formula One World Motor Racing champion Jenson Button was honoured with the first ever “Freedom of Frome” award by the people of his home town in 2010. The ceremony took place on a specially constructed stage in front of the Cheese and Grain, which was also used as a reception area for Jenson and his team. The event was attended by possibly 2,000 citizens of Frome and seen on television on TV news and sports programmes.

The BBC Somerset radio bus
BBC Radio Somerset frequently broadcasts from its studio bus which parks directly beside the Cheese and Grain, which is a busy thoroughfare in Frome, especially on market days. The hall is a popular venue for radio and TV interviews and market research campaigns due to its prime location.

The Christmas Spectacular and Frome Festival Food Feast
Two of Frome’s annual major public events take place in and around the Cheese and Grain. The Christmas Spectacular is an open air market and fireworks display in the Market Yard car park, with an indoor market in the hall. The Food Feast similarly uses the car park space for performances and food stalls, followed by an Acoustic Plus special concert in the Cheese and Grain later in the evening.
